Clarification of the Literacy and Numeracy Requirements for NCEA Level 1 in 2011 Transition Year


Progress with consultation
  • Level 1 standards were consulted in 2009. Latest versions have been online since the end of May.
  • Feedback from the Level 1 standards has been used to inform revisions of the Level 2 standards. Consultation on Level 2 will take place in August/Sept of 2010.
  • The Level 2 standards that have been online since the end of May 2010 are the latest version-please take the time to read through them.
  • Level 3 standards have been written. Consultation will take place in 2011 for Level 3.

There are two assessment resources projects in development
Internal assessment resources for Level 1 are in progress and will appear on the alignment site as they become available.
Draft Level 1 languages internal assessment resources for 1.3 and 1.5 have been online since the end of May 2010. Student exemplars are in development and will be online in Dec 2010.

Externals: Resources for externally assessed standards will be trialled in Term 4 2009 and Term 1 2010. All of these resources will be placed on the pages through the links above when they become available in 2010.
